If you are looking for an incredible way to start your week, look no further! The Harriet Tubman Foot Clinic Crew welcomes you to volunteer at our Monday afternoon clinic. Clinic set-up begins at 12:30 and we often finish cleaning up by 4:30.
No previous experience is necessary to work at the foot care clinic, but we do appreciate loving attitudes, good senses of humor, and hard workers!
Please send a note to Lorna, the clinic coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in learning more about volunteering with us!
In an effort to encourage the development of sister clinics, we have put together a manual outlining our basic foot care procedures, with appendices on proper hygiene and safety, herbal repertory, herbal medicine making, and patient education. We update it regularly as we develop new techniques or protocols.
Click here to view and download the manual. Please use this manual for the benefit of others!
For other training info on working with feet, please check out the YouTube Channel for Nurse Laura Roehrick, whom I have had the pleasure of training and working with. Laura specializes in high-speed drilling techniques which are such an effective means of managing toenails, corns, and calluses. Here we are providing footcare at the Gubbio Project in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.
Thank you Open Door Community!
After 4 decades of service, the Open Door Community, home to the Harriet Tubman Foot Clinic, closed its Atlanta house and relocated to Baltimore, MD. We will greatly miss the community that grew up around the Open Door. We will miss their leadership on important issues. We will miss their strong opinions that spoke truth to power. We will miss their welcoming hearts that built a more loving Atlanta.
And so we found ourselves in search of a new home for our little clinic. We were fortunate to receive an invitation from Mercy Community Church, another community center dedicated to serving our friends on the street and in prison, to begin holding foot services in their Center.
We held our first clinic on February 20th and are grateful for the support of our new hosts, the Mercy Community Church!
