The Harriet Tubman Foot Care Clinic

Painted for the 25th Anniversary of the Open Door Community.

After 4 decades of service, the Open Door Community, home to the Harriet Tubman Foot Clinic, is closing its Atlanta house and relocating to Baltimore, MD.  We will greatly miss the community that grew up around the Open Door.  We will miss their leadership on important issues.  We will miss their strong opinions that spoke truth to power. We will miss their welcoming hearts that built a more loving Atlanta.

And so we found ourselves in search of a new home for our little clinic.  We were fortunate to recently receive an invitation from Mercy Community Church, another community center dedicated to serving our friends on the street and in prison, to begin holding foot services in their Center.  We held our first clinic on February 20th and are grateful for the support of our new hosts, the Mercy Community Church.

Please spread the word of our new location and hours:

Monday’s from 1-3:30.

The Harriet Tubman Foot Care Clinic offers free holistic foot care to our friends on the street. We are a collaborative care clinic, blending conventional and herbal therapies. All services are free thanks to the help of our volunteers and donations from people like you. The foot clinic is staffed by volunteers and we can always use an extra set of hands. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the clinic coordinator

The Harriet Tubman Foot Care Clinic was founded at the Open Door Community over a decade ago.  After 40 years of service in the Atlanta are, the Open Door Community is closing its 910 Ponce De Leon home and relocating to Baltimore, MD.  We will miss them!!

IMG_8625FOOT CARE MANUAL
In an effort to encourage the development of sister clinics, I have put together a manual outlining foot care procedures, with appendices on proper hygiene and safety, herbal repertory, herbal medicine making, and patient education. Please see the “Handouts|Links” page for the most current version of this manual. Please use this manual for the benefit of others!
